painting kids smCentra Autism Program (CAP) provides academic and behavioral services focusing on family-centered, evidence-based treatments with a foundation in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behavior for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our team includes licensed and board certified behavior analysts and assistant behavior analysts. These professionals ensure that ABA techniques and methodologies are incorporated throughout the individualized programs with an emphasis on communication, academics, life skills, vocational skills and social skills.

Staff training

Staff members are trained in:

  • Virginia Autism Competencies
  • Principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis
  • Specific ABA techniques

CAP in Rivermont Schools

  • Follows local school schedule with extended school year options
  • Emphasis on implementing ABA techniques with:
    • Academics
    • Communication
    • Behavior management
    • Preparation for adult transition including activities of daily living (ADLs) and pre/vocational skills
    • Generalization of acquired skills
    • Preparation for return to least restrictive environment

About Centra Rivermont Schools

Centra Rivermont Schools are private, non-profit, special education day schools with 9 campuses across Virginia. Since 1986, Centra Rivermont Schools have served children with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities, and several years ago began providing autism services. In doing so, a strong emphasis has been placed on strengthening the educational services and implementing research-based techniques. CAP is available in Lynchburg, Danville, Roanoke, Virginia Beach, Lexington and Greater Petersburg.
